2011 was good to us

2011 was a good year for the artists on Nomanis roster.  Here's a (very very) truncated run-down of some end of year poll highlights.

Austra's debut album 'Feel It Break'  came out in the long cold winter of January and managed to keep us warm throughout the year.  It's been remembered by Stereogum, The Line Of Best Fit, Pop Matters, NME, Brooklyn Vegan,  and more as an album of the year and by New York Magazine as number one album of the year. 'Feel It Break' was also named 19th best album  in the Pitchfork readers poll.

Cass McCombs had two records out (Wits End and Humor Risk) and both were highly acclaimed.  Stateside, NPR had the modern classic song County Line as one of it's songs of the year as did Pitchfork at number 8 and Gorilla Vs Bear at no 15.  Spin had Humor Risk at no. 25, New York Times pop critic Ben Sisario had it at number one, Aquarium Drunkard Best of 2011, Prefix no 33, Pitchfork Honorable Mention in Albums  Over here
Q Magazine Readers voted Humour Risk into  no 35 and Wits End to no. 19.  Destroyer and Panda Bear and Kurt Vile all named one of the records as album of the year. The beautiful 'County line' is part of the Pitchfork readers poll top 50 songs of 2011.

Moon Duo's Mazes, released on Souterrain Transmissions, was chosen by Drowned In Sound and The Quietus as an album of the year.

Papercuts beautiful record Fading Parade (gratuitous link here to the single here) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fK0bfFUF7P4, was named by Line Of Best Fit, and Drowned In Sound chose a single of the year.

Peaking Lights slow burner 936  got a lot of local record shop love - No1 in the Manchester Piccadilly Records chart.  And from elsewhere: Wire's 15th top album of the year, Pitchfork top tracks of the year, Gorilla Vs Bear  and The Line Of Best Fit's album of the year.

Veronica Falls eponymous debut album was one of FakeDiY's albums of the year, as well as Drowned In Sounds. The Fly's (no 19) and Loud and Quiet (no 13).  Also some fellow musician love from Metronomy, who chose it as their album of the year and Rough Trade store had it in at number 6.

Washed Out's long awaited full length debut  cleaned up across the board as well, Spin, Stereogum, Gorilla vs Bear, Pop Matters and Q Magazine all named 'Within and Without' as an album of the year.  Amor Fati was named in Pitchfork's best of 2011 tracks and 28th top song of the year in their readers poll along with 23rd top album of the year.
